Float, Feast & Fundraise: A One-of-a-Kind Summer River Experience on the Colorado
SILT, CO – Get ready to float into peak summer! The Middle Colorado Watershed Council (MCWC) invites locals and visitors alike to join the Downvalley River Revelers FAC Float — a unique Friday Afternoon Club adventure on the Colorado River that blends river recreation, education, and gourmet riverside fare, all in support of local water conservation.
The event takes place Friday, June 27 at 3:00 PM, launching from either West Glenwood or New Castle (depending on river conditions), and concluding with a festive reception at Rislende in Silt. The float is professionally guided by Defiance Rafting, whose expert guides will highlight the river’s geology, ecology, and cultural stories along the way.
“Every summer, we look for ways to deepen community connection to this incredible river,” said Heather Montross Cowan, owner of Defiance Rafting. “Partnering with the Watershed Council allows us to give back to the river that gives us so much—and help people experience it in a truly meaningful way.”
After the float, participants will enjoy a curated riverside reception hosted by Rislende, featuring a gourmet menu of grilled shrimp, sliders, meatballs, caprese skewers, fig and cheese plate, pasta salad, and cold local beer.
“This is about community, connection, and conservation,” said Cole Buerger, owner of Rislende and board member of the Middle Colorado Watershed Council. “We're excited to host this celebration at the confluence of good food, good company, and good stewardship.”
